Cayuse Vineyards Impulsivo 2013 is a Spanish-inspired Tempranillo red – as popular as it is spectacular - one of America’s iconic cult wines.

Owner/winemaker Christophe Baron is a cult personality in Washington county. Twenty years ago the then young French travelling vigneron turned a field of stones in little known Walla Walla into one of America’s finest vineyards. The terroir reminded him of the cobblestones of the southern Rhône Valley and Châteuneuf-du-Pape, and he has been crafting spectacular Rhône inspired reds ever since. These wines are very hard to come by and available through Cayuse’s mailing list only.

”One of the wines of the vintage is the 2013 Impulsivo. Made from 100% Tempranillo and with only 214 cases made, it has incredible notes of bloody meats, cold fireplace, black cherries, currants and cedar. This gives way to a full-bodied, concentrated, structured 2013 that will benefit from 4-5 years of cellaring and drink well for a decade or more past that.”

”A cult of personality seems to have developed in Washington over the past couple of years. Whenever the name Christophe is mentioned, everyone immediately knows of whom you are talking. The man himself, Christophe Baron continues to find new and interesting things to do…Syrah and the Bordeaux varietals are the principal focus but some of the finest parcels of Tempranillo and Grenache grown in the USA are on this estate.”
