Peter Michael's Chardonnay Cuvée Indigène 2014 is a winemaker's barrel selection, focused on the power that Chardonnay can display along with finesse and nuance, which exemplifies the art of blending from the vintage's absolute top barrels.

In 1982, Sir Peter Michael and Lady Michael bought 630 acres of volcanic ridges on the western face of Mount St. Helena in Knights Valley, following a long search for the finest terroir available in the Sonoma. They put in place a brilliant winemaking team to follow and build upon their ethos, which shines through in the 2014 vintage.

“The Chardonnay Cuvée Indigène was inaugurated by Helen Turley in 1988 as a winemaker's barrel selection. The 2014 Chardonnay Cuvée Indigène is opulent, powerful, and certainly one of their great 2014s. The wine displays notes of crème brûlée, pineapple, mango and orange marmalade in a full-bodied but subtle and distinctive style. There is a leesy-ness in this wine that no doubt is imparted partly by the indigenous yeast fermentation. This powerful, long, rich wine should age beautifully for at least a decade.” Robert Parker

"Peter Michael Winery may be the best-run winery of its size for world-class quality..Having followed these wines for nearly two decades, they seem to go from strength to strength..."
Robert Parker
