Bottle report: Excellent condition.

Siro Pacenti's Brunello di Montalcino 2004 comes from an excellent Tuscan vintage, thanks to a very long, warm summer in which a large harvest of healthy grapes reached perfect ripeness.

The Pacenti estate was established in the north of Montalcino (Pelagrilli) by Siro Pacenti in 1970.  Today, Giancarlo Pacenti is one of the most progressive winemakers of Brunello di Montalcino, having risen to fame over the last two decades. Pacenti, who took over his family’s estate in 1988, ages his wines entirely in barrique, with the aim of making clean, rich and intense wines which typically show great fragrance, silkiness and relatively soft tannins. His single vineyard ‘Pelagrilli’ Brunello is his entry-level cuvee, and one of the best values in all of Montalcino.

”…a huge, dense wine that explodes from the glass with tar, smoke, earthiness black cherries and minerals. The wine possesses dazzling concentration and tons of richness, as waves of fruit coat the palate in stunning style… nothing short of magnificent today. The balance, and the integration of the French oak in particular, is brilliant.

“…wines of the very highest level, and I can’t recommend them highly enough." eRobertParker.com
