The Symington Group bought the Quinta do Vesuvio (vineyard) in 1989, which is one of the greatest and most remote vineyard areas in the entire Douro.

Vesuvio makes port in both declared and non-declared vintages where the quality of the fruit is good enough. Fruit is still trodden by foot in stone lagares as tradition dictates which, is often argued, makes the finest Ports. Peter Symington chose just 52 pipes (550 litre barrels) to bottle as Quinta do Vesuvio 1995 Vintage Port.

”Vivid and aromatically rich with lovely purity of fruit. Brilliantly fresh and structured on the palate. A truly great wine.” Jamie Goode – Wineanorak

”Waxy black and red cherries are found in the aromatic profile of the 2003 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port. Thick, creamy-textured, and exuberant, it offers a medium to full-bodied personality redolent with sweet black cherries and blackberries. A seductively sexy port, it is seamless, feminine, ample, and displays a long, syrupy finish.” eRobertParker.com
