Colgin Cariad 2008 is a sensational Californian Bordeaux style blend made from fruit sourced from the esteemed Madrona Ranch and Thorevilos vineyard.

Colgin was founded by Ann Colgin, and since its first vintage in 1992, has rapidly become one of Napa's finest estates, specialising in complex, structured Californian classics reminiscent of top-flight Bordeaux classed growths from the left bank; crafted by winemaker Allison Tauziet and the highly renowned French consultant Alain Raynaud. Much of their produce is sold through its mailing list, for which there is a very long queue, and so we are delighted to be have secured a very small allocation of the Cariad for you to savor.

“Aromas of ripe blueberry, strawberry and red currant are engagingly complex and supple in this Cabernet blend, which is full-bodied, graceful and elegant, ending with a long seamless finish that picks up a touch of gravel and tobacco leaf.” Wine Spectator

“...exhibits notes of chocolate fudge, mocha, black cherry, blackberry, licorice, smoke and toasty oak. Dense, full-bodied and chewy, it has not yet begun to reveal the nuances and complexity of other Cariad vintages. While it is a big, rich effort, I think it will develop along the lines of the 2000 and 2003...” eRobertParker.com
