The latest impressive release from Colgin of their top Cabernet. Quite simply now one of the greatest estates in the world.

Colgin was founded by Ann Colgin, and since its first vintage in 1992, has rapidly become one of Napa's finest estates, specialising in complex, structured Californian classics reminiscent of top-flight Bordeaux classed growths from the left bank; crafted by winemaker Allison Tauziet and the highly renowned French consultant Alain Raynaud. Much of their produce is sold through its mailing list, for which there is a very long queue, and so we are delighted to be have secured a very small allocation of their flagship red for you to savor.

“The 2011 IX Estate is another super-impressive wine. Mocha, tobacco, wild flowers, white pepper and incense all meld together in a silky, supple wine long on finesse and energy. Firm, muscular tannins support the explosive, brooding finish. Cool, intensely mineral and savory, the 2011 is vivid and thrilling in the glass, just as the single components have always been from barrel.” Antonio Galloni

“…surprising density and richness (then again, it-s from a hillside vineyard that was above the fog line in 2011), impressive purity, lots of red, blue and black fruits, and not a trace of herbaceousness. The oak is nicely integrated in this soft, round, generously endowed effort.” Robert Parker

"This wine has depth and a linear frame. Vibrant dark berry fruit with freshness and ripe tannins. Balanced flavors of red and black berries, cedar and herbs. The long finish with firm acidity and tannins suggests it will age beautifully over the next 10-15 years." Jeannie Cho Lee MW
