For over a century Dow's has followed a policy of investing in premium quality vineyards, and was one of the first port houses to buy quintas (vineyards) in the remote eastern reaches of the Douro valley at the end of the 19th century.

The backbone of Dow's Vintage Ports is drawn from the company's finest vineyards - the Quinta do Bomfim and Senhora da Riberia – each property contributing to the wine's unique character and class.

Aged in wood for approximately 2 years and bottled unfiltered, Dow's Vintage Ports are considered to be amongst the finest Vintage Ports produced.

"With a pale colour, this wine has developed into mainly earthy, meaty, gamey aromas with discernable notes of loam, underbrush and a touch of caramel over the sultana and Chinese dried plum fruit. After a few minutes, appealing scents of orange peel and dark chocolate begin to emerge. Crisp, rich, warm and spicy on the palate, with a remaining low to medium level of silky tannins."
