Château Duhart-Milon 2005 is a great wine from a great Bordeaux vintage, yet remains remarkably well priced compared to its neighbours.

Duhart-Milon, which is owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild, is one of the few properties in the 1855 classification to lack a château; and the wine is actually finished off in in a large warehouse.

But despite this lack of grandeur, the quality of the produce, as with many estates under the distinguished Rothschild stable, is very high; then again with neighbours such as Châteaux Lafite Rothschild and Mouton Rothschild in this northern part of Pauillac - this is the least we should expect from such high quality soils. Duhart-Milon's wines lean towards the rather elegant, restrained style with great balance and real finesse.

"Consumers should keep an eye on this estate as their wines are getting better and better….. The finest Duhart-Milon ever made? This structured, tannic, dense ruby/purple-tinged Pauillac offers up hints of cassis, licorice, chocolate, and earth. Medium to full-bodied with good purity, strong tannins, and undeniable elegance, it reveals a character not dissimilar from its renowned sibling, Lafite-Rothschild." eRobertParker.com
