Harlan Estate was founded in 1984 by William Harlan, and is stunningly set in the stunning western hills of Oakville, above the fabled Oakville benchlands, in the heart of the Napa Valley. The estate ethos is simple, to produce a Californian 'First Growth'. The Wine Spectator has called the estate a 'Californian grand cru', while Robert Parker has commented that it 'might be the single most profound red wine made not just in California, but in the world'.

“…a stupendous bouquet of lead pencil shavings interwoven with coffee, new saddle leather, melted licorice, cedarwood, black currant liqueur, and violets. Explosive richness, a marvelous, full-bodied texture, and fabulous purity, concentration, complexity, and nobleness are the stuff of legends.

“…extraordinary nuances such as sweet, loamy soil and earthy minerality intermixed with some background smoke, black currant liqueur, plum, Asian spice and new saddle leather. Full-bodied, it possesses great intensity, with stunning flavors that are viscous enough to coat the mouth, but never become heavy or overbearing. The wine has a remarkable purity, concentration and intensity that should carry it for another 30+ years. This is already very promising, and for those who own it, I would suggest a good two to three hours of decanting prior to service.” Robert Parker

“One of the great estates of California and in the world of wine.” Robert Parker
