"Deep ruby, with a ripe, meaty cassis and berry nose, full-bodied, with tons of velvety fruit flavors, full tannins and a very long finish." -- James Suckling - 97 "Many notes, different UK bottlings, all consistently good; deep, rich, magnificent. Recent notes: perfect balance and harmony on nose and palate. Sweet, full, rich, fleshy, very fragrant. Superb. Then a a glorious bottle in 1990, its fragrance lingering in the glass for five hours. The next two, both coincidentally at Saintsbury Club dinners, in 1994 and 1998. Both wines appeared quite deep for their age; both had a flawless bouquet, crisp, rich, classic. Both were sweet with lovely fleshy texture, fruit, flavour and finish. Might surpass even the '63.
