Bottle report: Very good condition, slight nick to label.

A perfect score from Robert Parker, Quinta do Noval Nacional vintage port is Noval's most famous and virtually invisible wine. A legendary Port from the very rare “Nacional” vineyard of Quinta do Noval - only a meagre 200 cases are made when the house declares a vintage. To many Nacional is the ‘Holy Grail’ of Ports. The grapes come from gnarly old ungrafted vines that are Phylloxera resistant and the yields are miniscule, literally half of those from the rest of Noval's "estate" vineyards. The grapes are individually handpicked and trodden.

“...a legend from this pre-phylloxera vineyard. The color is a saturated black/purple. The nose reveals floral scents intermixed with coffee, blackberries, tar, cassis, licorice, and chocolate. Extremely full-bodied, but less massive and seamless, this spectacular Nacional will reach its plateau of maturity quickly, where it will remain for 2-3 decades.” Robert Parker
