Bottle report: Excellent condition overall - very lightly soiled label.

A perfect score from Master of Wine Jancis Robinson, Quinta do Noval Nacional vintage port is Noval's most famous and virtually invisible wine. A legendary Port from the very rare “Nacional” vineyard of Quinta do Noval - only a meagre 200 cases are made when the house declares a vintage. To many Nacional is the ‘Holy Grail’ of Ports. The grapes come from gnarly old ungrafted vines that are Phylloxera resistant and the yields are miniscule, literally half of those from the rest of Noval's "estate" vineyards. The grapes are individually handpicked and trodden.

Dark rich fruit on the nose. Intense and dark and still pretty restrained. Then beautifully rich and full and voluptuous while still hiding so much. Very very long with spicy depth and finish.” Jancis Robinson MW 20/20

“Fantastic aromas of blackberry, licorice and cherry follow through to a full-bodied palate, with well-integrated tannins and a long finish.” Wine Spectator

“This wine is a mysterious phenomenon, a magical wine produced in extremely limited quantities and only in a few years each decade. It is the expression of a terroir and confirms something that is for me a deeply held belief. The Nacional is great because of the grapes and where they come from, not because of anything particular that we do. It has a unique personality, an extraordinary intensity and, even after many years of ageing, retains an astonishing youthfulness.” Christian Seely
