Screaming Eagle’s Second Flight is this cult Californian wine estate's second wine, and a great introduction to this Napa Valley legend.

Screaming Eagle was established by Jean Philips in 1992, making her very first vintage in a plastic rubbish bin from fruit sourced from a gentle, west-facing slope east of the Napa River, where intense heat is tempered by cool afternoon breezes. She took a sample of her her 'homemade' wine to Robert Mondavi, they bottled it and the rest, as they say is history. It is now owned by Stanley Kroenke.

“Intense blackberry and blueberry aromas with hints of fresh mushrooms. Black truffles, too. Full-bodied, tight and chewy with polished and velvety tannins. Long and muscular finish. Energetic.” James Suckling

“The 2014 Second Flight bristles with all the energy and tension that is such a signature of the vintage. Dark flavors abound, with plenty of black cherry, mocha, espresso and graphite overtones layered throughout. The 2014 is an especially muscular, brooding Second Flight.” Antonio Galloni, Vinous
