Super Tuscans

Super Tuscan wines

Super Tuscans are internationally-styled designer wines made using unapproved methods, or non-native grape varieties, or with unapproved grape compositions. Ornellaia, Sassicaia and Solaia are the very elite of Super Tuscans and world famous names.

Tignanello was, in part, set up to dispel the appalling reputation Chianti had made for itself in the 1970s and, along with Sassicaia, are arguably the original ‘Super Tuscans’.

Six hundred years of the Antinori's family winemaking skills and traditions have gone into making the Solaia (lit. the sunny one), which is drawn from carefully selected grapes from the vineyard of the same name.
