Dana Estates Lotus 2015 is a big, dark mountain red with great richness, minerality, and earthiness.

Dana Estates is situated in the heart of Rutherford, and the estate was originally established in 1883 by H.W. Helms, a German viticulturist. The winery closed in Prohibition, and wine was not made again here until 1984, when it was called Livingston Vineyards. Today, it is owned by a South Korean businessman, Hi Sang Lee, an avid wine collector and enthusiast, who has completely revamped the six acres of vines and cellar. The Lotus Vineyard is sited at around 1200 feet on the slopes just below the Howell Mountain appellation, is farmed organically, with great attention to detail, and yields are low, producing rich, concentrated fruit and wines.

“…looks like another potentially perfect wine with an incredible floral/violet-like nose interwoven with blueberries, blackberries and cassis. The vibrancy on the palate is rather remarkable given the wine’s great intensity, massive fruit and incredible length and richness.

“This estate has turned into one of the superstars of Napa Valley thanks to the energetic and visionary ownership of Korean Hi Sang Lee and his son, along with the winemaking guru Philippe Melka. These are all sensational wines coming from some of the best sites in Napa Valley." Robert Parker
