Bottle report: Excellent condition.

Futo Estate was established by Tom and Kyle Futo, who planted a new vineyard in the great winemaking areas of Oakville and Stag's Leap, neighbouring the great Harlan and Bond wineries.

Futo produces limited production wines with immense attention to detail in the vineyard and the cellar. It is definitely a case of quality and not quantity, and the boutique wines are highly expressive of their terroirs (rocky, with great drainage) and warm growing season - rich and structured, yet approachable young. Grapes are picked by hand and the fruit turned to wine juice by the natural weight, without pressing.

"...a stunning wine, and it was not easy to back off a perfect score, but maybe that will come with another several years of bottle age. The wine has profound intensity, amazing purity and clarity, an inky bluish/purple color, a stunning nose of spring flowers interwoven with crème de cassis, background charcoal, smoldering embers, and a full-bodied mouthfeel. It has an incredible lightness of being, despite its exceptional intensity and richness. This is an amazing wine and a great example of Stags Leap. It should drink well for 30+ years.” Robert Parker

”This is a small but magnificent estate on the lower hillsides of the Oakville corridor in the Mayacamas Mountains just below Bill Harlan’s estate and the Bond Winery.. The quality of these wines is truly world-class.” Robert Parker
