Siro Pacenti's Brunello di Montalcino 2010 was rated a perfect 100 points by James Suckling.

The Pacenti estate was established in the north of Montalcino (Pelagrilli) by Siro Pacenti in 1970.  Today, Giancarlo Pacenti is one of the most progressive winemakers of Brunello di Montalcino, having risen to fame over the last two decades. Pacenti, who took over his family’s estate in 1988, ages his wines entirely in barrique, with the aim of making clean, rich and intense wines which typically show great fragrance, silkiness and relatively soft tannins. His Vecchia Vigne yields from a vineyard whose wines age over 35 years and is aged in French oak for two years.

”…Complex aromas of walnut, dark fruit, stone, oyster shell, chalk and dried fruits. This shows fabulous intensity and balance with layer upon layer of fruit and polished tannins. Builds on the palate. It goes on for minutesant." James Suckling

“…another superb wine. The contours are more modern and the fruit leans towards the darker end of spectrum, yet all the elements are wonderfully in balance. Surprisingly open and expressive for a young Brunello, the 2010 is sure to improve with a little more time in the bottle. All of the Pacenti signatures are in place, though, and the house style is unmistakable." Vinous
