Raveneau’s Premier Crus lke the south-facing Montee de Tonnerre are considered as good as Grand Crus, and the Tonnerre is considered as one of Chablis’ top dozen wines and has a cult following; so we are delighted to have secured limited stocks of the 2007 vintage.

The Raveneau family owns some of the finest vineyard sites in Chablis, and their wines carry that steely minerality redolent of the terroir that defines this world famous style. The Raveneaus pioneered the use of barrel fermentation and extended lees contact in Chablis winemaking, producing wines with more power, concentration and richness than had been seen previously, yet retaining great balance. But their biggest asset are the vineyards that they bought parcel by parcel with a nose for the finest soils in the region, most of which are tiny (under a hectare).

Raveneau's Chablis' are hand-harvested and pressed immediately, they are aged for a year in small oak barrels called feuillettes (averaging 8 years old), which are half the size of a barrique; a key factor in their wines' unique creamy texture, without the oak flavours of newer barrels.

"Outstanding. This offers a step up in aromatic elegance with acacia blossom, quinine, citrus peel and sea shore aromas that are framed by a gentle touch of wood, which is also reflected by the intense, powerful and quite serious big-bodied flavors that ooze dry extract that confers a silky and sappy mouth feel to the seductive and long finish.” Burghound

”Honey, citrus oil, and fresh ginger reinforce an impression of bitter-sweetness on the palate, along with suggestions of musk, crustacean reduction, and brine. This finishes with electric vivacity and implacable grip, the sharp concentration of ginger, iodine, lemon zest, and white pepper creating a memorable sense of vibrancy.”
