Louis Roederer’s Cristal is regarded by many as the first prestige Champagne cuvee.

Cristal was created for Alexander II of Russia in the late 19th century. As a result of the Tsar’s fear of assassination the glass bottle was made clear so that he could see the bubbles and be reassured that there wasn’t a bomb concealed within. Louis Roederer’s Champagnes are largely sourced from their own vineyards, which ensure that they complete control over the quality of fruit that goes into every single Champagne bottle.

“An explosion of fruit emerges from the 2004 Cristal, making a strong and very positive first impression. This is a wine of incredible finesse, length and balance that promises to develop beautifully over the next several decades.”
