Scarecrow is one of the rarest wines in California and the world, and the 2007 vintage was rated a perfect 100 points by Robert Parker – a stunning buy to drink or hold. Think of it as a cult wine on a par with Screaming Eagle, but around one third of the price.

Scarecrow’s vines (the oldest in Napa) date back to the 1940s, when Joseph Judson Cohn (MGM executive producer of The Wizard of Oz and Ben Hur) bought the property in Rutherford, and the vineyard became known as one of the leading terroirs in Napa Valley. The name Scarecrow pays homage to one of the most popular characters in the Wizard of Oz.

"...a prodigious effort. It reveals a liqueur of crushed rocks intermixed with a smorgasbord of spring flower, blueberry, creme de cassis, and assorted blue, black, and red fruit characteristics. It also possesses extraordinary concentration, but what sets it apart is the fragrant aromatics combined with uncommon purity and elegance for such a full-bodied, massively concentrated wine. Its perfect balance suggests it can be drunk at a relatively young age, but it should easily evolve over 30-35 years. Congratulations to all involved!" Robert Parker

"One of the true blue chip vineyards and wines of Napa Valley, winemaker Celia Masyczek fashions approximately 400 cases of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a legendary Rutherford vineyard with 60-year old vines. Aged in 100% new oak, this cuvee reveals a very singular character. If California vineyards were ever classified a la French sites, this Rutherford terroir would be judged a grand cru."
Robert Parker
