Bottle report: Excellent condition.

Sine Qua Non is pioneering cult Californian estate established by Manfred Krankl, whose incredibly hard to come by wines have a reputation as being works of art both inside and on the outside of the bottles (with his eclectically named and designed labels). In fact, some collectors actually buy these incredibly scarce wines, of which are sometimes just a few barrels are made, for the labels alone.

“…rock star vibrant red currant and black raspberry scents with hints of licorice, mocha, Indian spices and peppered salami plus oh-so-fragrant and seductive touches of potpourri and chargrill. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and opulently fruited in the mouth, the alluring, velvety tannins support savory, spicy layers right through the long, mineral-laced finish. This is one drop dead gorgeous, femme fatale of a wine...2013s are pure power juxtaposed by carefree decadence and wanton opulence. As you will see from my notes and scores, my excitement for these wines is about as fervent as it gets. Those who know me, know that I do not hand out 100-point scores lightly or often, but I am compelled to give a perfect score when the wine clearly deserves nothing less.

“The levels to which the Krankls and their team have taken the vineyards in the heart of California Central Coast is astonishing. Their work ethic, creativity and no-compromise stance should be considered a beacon for other wineries seeking sky’s-the-limit heights.” Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW,
