Washington State has gone from being a ‘dry State’ to the second biggest wine producing State in the U.S. behind California.

The region, which lies to the east of the Cascade Mountains, benefits from their shelter and a mainly dry climate. The region is most famous for the Columbia, Yakima and Walla Walla valleys that suit the production of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and boasts producers such as Cayuse Vineyards and Quilceda Creek.
